You could tell that is was the first game of the season for both Ferris and Godley Friday night.†

The teams combiend for 13 fumbles amd Ferris lost five of them in the 21-7 season-opening loss.†

The Yellowjackets scored in the first quarter when Kolby Luttrell scooped up one of the five Wildcat fumbles and ran it in for a touchdown from 33 yards out.†

Godley then marched down the field. Taylor Luce ran for 50 yards to take the ball to Ferrisí two-yard line, where he scored from on his next carry,

†A two-point conversion led to Godley leading 8-7 at halftime.

The third quarter wasnít good for the Jackets as they had two more fumbles lead to scores, one was recovered in the end zone for an easy score.

The Jacketsí defense played a solid game in the losing effort as the allowed just 253 total yards.†

Jay Foster led the Ferris offense with 145 yards on 14 carries. Keegan Harris completed 12 passes for 88 yards. His top target was Darius Rouett, who had five grabs for 35 yards.

Ferris (0-1) will be on the road at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kemp.

Hawks lose to Wylie East

Jeremiah Gaines scored all three touchdowns for Red Oak in its 52-21 season-opening loss to the Pirates.

Gaines scored from 60, 22 and 66 yards out as he ran for 83 yards and caught three passes for 108 yards from the tight end position.

Red Oak trailed just 24-21 at the half before Wylie Eastís explosive offense took over.

Garrett McCain completed 23 of 42 passes for 365 yards and four scores.

Austin VanHove completed eight passes for 67 yards under center for Red Oak.

Cameron Bausley ran 14 times for 106 yards. Ronnie Larue ran for 51 yards on a pair of carries.

Ennisí defense carries Lions

Malik Jenkins put the game away for the Lions with a 62-yard interception return for atouchdown in the foruth quarter of his teamís 30-16 victory versus Burleson Centennial.

Ennisí Brandon Adams completed six of 14 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns.

Those scoring strikes went to Devin Smith, who had five grabs for 89 yards. Terence Williams also ran 17 times for 138 yards.
