Paul Dyess, 64, of Waxahachie passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at his home. He was born May 25, 1948, to Raymond and Norma Dyess. He attended Waxahachie schools and Sam Houston State University, where he was a proud Delt. Paul served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He married Susan Oates on May 15, 1981, and they were married 25 years until her death in 2007.
Paul will be remembered for his engaging personality. He kept his family and many friends smiling or laughing. Paul loved music and he enjoyed the countless times spent with his musician friends playing and singing. He was also an avid Texas Longhorn and Texas Ranger fan.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Dyess of Waxahachie; son, Brad Dyess of Waxahachie; granddaughters, Gracie, Taylor and Morgan; brother, Alan Dyess; sister, Nelda Curlin and husband, Jack; nieces, Allison Shanahan and husband, Mike, and Sarah Dyess; aunts; uncles; cousins and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Dyess, and father, Raymond Dyess.
The family received friends from 6- 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at the Elm Branch Cemetery.
