SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The leader of a San Antonio-area school board has been indicted on misdemeanor campaign violation charges.
Judson Independent School District's board president June Adair on Monday said she will not resign.
A Bexar (bayr) County grand jury in late June indicted Adair on two counts related to cash contributions. Adair, who learned of the indictment a few days, faces trial Aug. 17.
Prosecutors say one count involves accepting campaign donations above the $100 limit from an individual during a given reporting period. Adair also allegedly failed to maintain a separate account for campaign contributions.
If convicted, Adair faces up to $6,000 in fines and 18 months in state jail.
Adair in May 2011 won a third term, then last November was chosen president by fellow board members.
