PLANO, Texas (AP) — A utility official says the FBI is investigating whether a Dallas-area gas line was tampered with before a man was hurt in an explosion.
Atmos (AT'-muhs) Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Ryan said Tuesday that the FBI has taken over the case. She declined to say if the gas line was damaged.
Ryan says Plano police around 1 a.m. Monday asked the utility to check for a gas leak. Officer David Tilley says police earlier received 911 calls reporting an explosion and located a critically hurt man.
Tilley says the man had something in his possession or in front of him that exploded. Police haven't released further details on the hospitalized man.
Tilley says no Atmos equipment exploded.
Bomb squads Tuesday searched a house. The FBI says no one has been arrested.
