LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Federal authorities say a New Mexico gang member is the subject of a manhunt after he jumped bail related to drug trafficking charges.
Tommy Alvarado was placed this week on New Mexico's Most Wanted list. The U.S. Marshals Service says Alvarado, who travels back and forth between El Paso and Las Cruces, N.M., was released from custody on bond in January, and immediately fled from justice. Police say he is a member of the Barrio Azteca street gang.
Authorities say Alvarado violated his probation in 2010 when he was involved in a shooting with rival gang members. He is also accused of violating his probation for possessing a firearm.
