Southwestern Assemblies of God University was recognized with the 2006-07 Red River Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Award for the demeanor and conduct of its players and coaches during the last academic year.
RRAC Athletic Directors voted SAGU as the top overall program in exhibiting sportsmanship.
Special recognition was given to Wiley College for its men's teams while Southwestern Assemblies of God was honored again for its women's teams.
The RRAC Sportsmanship Award is given annually to the RRAC member institution that has best exhibited the qualities of sportsmanship including teamwork, fair play, respect for the game, and conduct in competition. The level of sportsmanship must be apparent across a number of sports, on and off the playing surface, and in the schools' interaction with fellow member institutions.
The award comes exactly two months before the SAGU athletic program begins roaring again.
The season begins when the SAGU women's soccer and men's teams take the field on August 27th against Dallas Christian College at the SAGU Soccer Field.
The 14-member Red River Athletic Conference includes Bacone College, Houston Baptist, Huston-Tillotson, Jarvis Christian College, Langston, Northwood, Paul Quinn College, College of the Southwest, SAGU, Texas College, Texas Wesleyan, UT-Brownsville and Wiley College.
