The Education Foundation for WISD is in the process of planning its sixth annual Education Foundation Golf Classic.

The event, which will take place Monday, April 23 at the Waxahachie Country Club, serves as one of the organization’s major fund-raisers for the year.

Through its endowment, the Education Foundation for WISD awards grants to WISD educators for innovative programs and materials for classroom instruction not covered by the school budget.

Awards are presented twice a year. As the endowment grows, more funds are made available for grants.

Sponsorships for this year’s Golf Classic event are now being accepted, with multiple levels available.

Available sponsorships include:

Platinum Sponsor — $2,500, includes four players in the tournament, four tickets for lunch, recognition and named featured at tee box.

Gold Sponsor — $1,250, includes two players in the tournament, two tickets for lunch, recognition and name featured at tee box.

Silver Sponsor — $500, includes one player in the tournament, one ticket for lunch, recognition and name featured at tee box.

Other sponsorship opportunities are also available.

This year all the logos of the major corporate sponsors will appear on the back of the golf tournament AKA “Education Foundation Classic” T-shirt.

“We are also adding a putting contest where the winners receive $200 cash. The putting contest is going to be sponsored by Vintage Bank this year,” said Nicole Mansell, director of public information for WISD. “Also, Miss Ellis County 2007, Faith Bates will be a special guest at the classic.”

Mansell added information for player registration will be made available soon and encourages residents throughout the community to take part as they help teachers and students in WISD.
