Lon Robert Wakeland, age 90, January 1, 1932 – June 22, 2022.
Lon Robert Wakeland was born to Tommie Ruth and James Cash Wakeland in Forreston, Texas. He married Bobbie Glenn Murdock December 5, 1951 at Bethel United Methodist Church. They raised their family in Boz and were members of Bethel United Methodist Church. He graduated from Forreston High School in 1950, played basketball and continued that great love for sports throughout his life. He worked for Western Electric in Dallas for 15 years from 1954 to 1969. For most of his life Lon Robert was a farmer and rancher in the Boz community.
He is survived by his loving family: wife of 70 years Bobbie Glenn Wakeland, two daughters, Glenda Muirhead and her husband David, Nancy Fletcher and her husband Jimmy, one son, Lonny Wakeland and his wife Nancy and one daughter in-law, Dianne Wakeland. One brother Jimmy Wakeland and wife Janet of Waxahachie. 11 Grandchildren Stephanie and Brett Bartlett of Grapevine, Angie and Jon Henson of Waxahachie, Robyn and Chris Fourment of Colleyville, Keith and Beth Fletcher of Fort Worth, Clint and Tiffany Muirhead of Arlington, Jenny and Jon Maples of Midlothian, Misty and Robert Ford of Gering, NE, Adam Wakeland of Midlothian, Kristy and Trey Paroski of Ennis, Robert Wakeland of Venus and Bobby Wakeland of Gun Barrel City. 18 Great Grandchildren Haley and Cooper Henson, Madison Muirhead, Zoe and Keaton Fletcher, Madeline and Ella Fourment, Addison Bartlett, Aidan, Conner, Riley, Payton Borden, Shelby and Sydney Ford, Thomas Paroski, Zaydan and Chloie Wakeland and Alana Wakeland. He was preceded into eternal life by his parents Tommie Ruth and James Cash Wakeland, his sister Billie Jean Taulbee, son Robby Wakeland and one Great Granddaughter Sloan Harper Bartlett.
A Memorial Service with family and friends to celebrate his life will be on June 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Heath Sims officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends and family at the Bethel United Methodist Church Community Hall.
