Waxahachie ISD physicians will conduct free female physicals for the 2009-2010 school year beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Waxahachie High School’s J.W. Williams Gymnasium.

All female athletes who are interested in participating in athletics for WISD next year must have a physical to begin participation. 

These physicals are free of charge and this will be the only time that a free physical will be administered to female athletes for the upcoming school year. 

All athletes coming to the physicals on May 30 must bring the UIL physical form with the medical history part signed by a parent. 

These forms may be obtained from the training room office at the high school.

Reporting times for the physicals are as follows: senior, juniors, sophomores and freshmen – 9 a.m.

Seventh- and eighth-graders – 10  a.m.

Indians tailgate party Saturday

The Waxahachie Quarterback Club, in support of the Waxahachie Indians football team, will be holding the HEB Green and White BBQ tail-gate party May 30 in the parking lot of Lumpkins Stadium. The drive through and carry out event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. Lunch plates are $6 each and includes sliced BBQ, beans, potato salad, pickles and bread. On May 29 special orders can be made and will be delivered to schools, businesses or homes. Orders have to be made by May 27 for the May 29 delivery. To call in an order, call 972-937-9621.

Warrior football camp

The Waxahachie football coaches will be conducting a football camp June 15-18 for incoming seventh and eighth grade students. The camp will take place at the Waxahachie Junior High football practice fields and will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 11:30 a.m. The cost of the camp is $50 for pre-registration and $55 for on-site registration. This fee will include a camp T-shirt. Campers will be instructed in basic football fundamentals, drills, techniques and the Warrior philosophy of offensive and defensive style of play. Youth football signups

Waxahachie Pee-Wee Football signups are now through May 30. Call coach Vance Richardson at 214-714-1788 for sign up information. Saturday, May 30, signups will be held at Penn Park from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Summer camps

The Canterbury Episcopal School in DeSoto is enrolling for its Sensational Summer Sports Camps.  Volleyball Camp for girls is June 22–25, Basketball Camp for boys and girls is July 13–16, and Baseball Camp for boys is July 20–23. All camps offer a morning session from 9-11:30 for $110 or afternoon session from 1–4 for $120. Waxahachie High School will hold a soccer camp June 22-25 for boys and girls. Camp one will be from 9-11:30 a.m. for grade 2-6. Camp two will be from 4:30-7 p.m. for grade 7-9. Cost is $60. Baseball camp

Waxahachie will be holding a baseball camp at Richards Park from 9 a.m. to noon on June 8-10 for players entering second through fifth grades . Softball camp

Football camp

SAGU baseball camp

SAGU will hold a baseball camp June 23-25. The camp will feature SAGU baseball players and coaches and will focus on each phase of the game. The cost will be $65 for all three days or $25 per day (includes camp T-shirt). Age range for the camp 8 years olds to youth entering the eighth-grade. It will be held at the SAGU baseball practice field located behind the Full Life Center on the SAGU campus and will last from 8:30 a.m.-noon each day. SAGU will host a volleyball camp June 29-July 2 for high school students. On July 27-30 the elementary (4th-6th grade) and junior high players will their playing time at camp. Super Bowl XLV volunteers needed

The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau is currently accepting Super Bowl XLV volunteer information for those interested in volunteer opportunities with the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, in preparation for Super Bowl XLV, which will be played in the Dallas Cowboys new $1.1 billion stadium in 2011.Thousands of volunteer opportunities will be available, with a variety of skills needed.  Those interested can go to www.arlington.org/volunteers
