In preparation for the District 16-4A swim meet this Saturday, the Waxahachie High School swim team competed in the McKinney Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17.

The meet was a mild success for the Waxahachie swimmers as they placed well against 29 other schools and 395 total swimmers.

“Most of our times are still getting faster and that’s what is important at this time of the season.” Waxahachie swim coach Tamara Pruitt said. “When we attend these meets with the large 5A schools we are proud when we’re able to keep it close and be competitive. Only three seniors competed on Saturday, so we are a young team and will continue to get better each year.”

As a team, Waxahachie finished in 11th place in points.

Kristi Clem placed 5th in the 50-meter free and 8th in the 100-meter free to set the best marks for WHS.

The boys’ 400-meter relay team placed 5th. The team consisted of Logan McDonald, Blake Wright, Eddie Sneed, and Hunter Storz.

In all other events, Waxahachie placed in the top 20.

This Saturday, the WHS swimmers will face off against Hewitt Midway and Cleburne in the District 16-4A meet. The event will be held at Splash Station in Cleburne beginning at 9 a.m. Splash Station is located at 1010 Hillsboro St., Cleburne, TX 76033.
