The Howard Warriors of Waxahachie played host to DeSoto East on Thursday night in the eighth-grade center gym.

The White team lost a close game, 30-28.

They were led in scoring by Trent Armstrong (6), Chris Chance (5) and Craig Renfro (4).

The Green team played a hard fought game against a good DeSoto East team, but came up short, 56-46. Scoring leaders were David Martinelli (10), Tracy Morrison (8) and Aston Prather (7).

Lady Warriors win

It was a great night for the Waxahachie Lady Warriors seventh-grade basketball teams as both teams defeated DeSoto East in DeSoto on Tuesday.

The Green team defeated DeSoto East by one point, 27-26.

Yoshyra Skinner scored the winning basket for Waxahachie with five seconds left in the game. She led the team in scoring with nine points.

Ariel Ortiz added eight points for Waxahachie while Jordyn Wiggins had four points and Taylor Watson, Kim Mack and Tressa Settlemeyer all had two points.

The White team topped DeSoto East by 29 points, 37-8.

Cristian Armstrong had 12 points and Hailey David had 10 points to lead the Lady Warriors. Millie Atkins had four points, Summer Stevens had three, Macy Hill, Ciara Armstrong and Aspen Eaglen all had two points.
