GRANBURY — When things are going your way, there is not a lot that can be done to slow you down.

Such is the case with the 8U Waxahachie Marlins, who continued to roll through pool play Wednesday with their third double-digit win in as many games at the USSSA World Series.

The Marlins beat the Cedar Hill Longhorns 11-1 to claim the No. 1 seed as bracket play begins Thursday. For the second straight day the Marlins did it with their bats and in the field, turning their third double play of the tournament.

“Our hitting is clicking right now, but our defense is really good,” head coach Armando Sanchez said. “We had another double play and our outfielders caught two or three balls. We’re pushing hard for them to stay down on the ball and to keep in front of them.”

As the Marlins prepare for Thursday’s game against the Little Elm Reds or the DeSoto Yankees, Sanchez is not concerned about his team losing focus because of the big wins.

“They’ve all got the right attitude,” he said. “They realize that we play from start to finish and that you can’t get too confident when you’re winning by five or six, or to down if you’re losing by five or six.”

The Marlins’ first bracket game is slated for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. If they win they will play at 4:30 p.m. today and if they lose they will play at 6 p.m.

“We’re so proud,” Sanchez said of the coaches. “This really is unbelievable.”
