Hunter Porter is headed to state. Again.

The Red Oak senior powerlifter took home first place honors in the 165-pound class at the Region 3 girls powerlifting meet in Forney over the weekend to earn her third trip to the state championship meet on March 19 in Corpus Christi.

Porter outdid just about everyone in her weight class on all three areas for a combined lift of 880 pounds. Her squat of 325 was tied for third best in the class while her bench press of 140 was tied for second most. She put her competitors away on the dead lift with a 415-pound lift that was 80 pounds greater than the next closest opponent. Her 880 total was 105 pounds better than the second and third place finishers.

Teammate Taylor Anderson, a 181-pound class lifter, placed eighth in her division with a combined lift of 700 pounds. She squatted 275, benched 125 and dead lifted 300.

Red Oak Life sophomore Amanda Shortes finished third in the 97-pound class at the Region 3 meet in Forney to earn a trip to the state meet on March 19. Shortes had a combined lift of 495 pounds. She squatted 200, benched 80 and dead lifted 215.
