WHS football tickets on sale
Tickets to Friday’s district 15-4A opening game at Terrell are available now until 2 p.m. Friday at the Waxahachie Daily Light office and at Neighborhood Credit Union.
Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students and children.
There are only two days remaining to sign up for the Maypearl Madness Tournament for baseball coach pitch teams. There are also openings for 15-18U teams.
Coaches that sign up will decide if they want to play Saturday double elimination, or Saturday/Sunday three-game guarantee.

Registration open for
5K run for education
The officers and board members for the Education Foundation for Waxahachie ISD announce that registration is open for the first Legacy Run, slated for Oct. 8.
The Legacy Run will be presented by local homebuilder, Lillian Custom Homes. The theme for this year’s event is “Lights. Camera. Hachie!”
The Legacy Run will feature a 5K and one-mile fun run/walk that will begin and end at the newly renovated Lumpkins Stadium.
Early registration for the family-friendly event runs through Sept. 23. Adult cost to participate is $25 and students are $10. Children 4 and younger are free with the purchase of an adult registration entrance fee. The foundation is also offering a Family4Pack-discount.
Participants may continue to register after the early registration deadline and on the day of the race for a fee of $30 for adults.

Waxahachie gymnastics center joins world record try
The Waxahachie Gymnastics Center will join forces with gymnastics clubs across the country on Sept. 17 to break the world record for most handstands held simultaneously.
The attempt will start at noon Saturday and the open gym will start at 11 a.m. The gym is located at 150 Butcher Road.
National Gymnastics Day, Sept. 17, gymnasts, families, friends and enthusiasts nationwide kick up their feet for “The Year of the Handstand.”
