Waxahachie Youth Baseball Association will now provide softball for Waxahachie area girls. Registration is available online at wybonline.org. Divisions will range from 5-6U t-ball to 14U kid pitch. Each league will have an eight-game season with games played Monday-Tuesday at the Waxahachie Sports Complex starting Sept. 6.
Riley Soccer Academy will begin weekly lessons for all soccer players looking to get extra training Wednesday, Aug. 31. The Academy will be every Wednesday at Lions Park for all ages and will be separated by age groups. Cost is $10 for ages 4-6 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and $15 for ages 7 and up and will be from 6:30-8. There will be a group just for goalkeepers ages 8 and up. The Academy will provide private lesson opportunities and team training for local teams as well as speed and agility training for all athletes and teams. Club Express will be hosting back to school volleyball clinics for junior high school students at the Waxahachie YMCA. The clinic will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m. each night. WHS football dates
Waxahachie High School has released important dates regarding the 2011 football season. The weight room is open from 3-6 p.m. daily while Operation head-start began Monday, July 25 and runs through Thursday, Aug. 4 at Howard Junior High. Head-start begins at 6 p.m.
A parent meeting for ALL 2011 WHS football players will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, in the Fine Arts Center at WHS.
Player meetings will be held in the little theater at WHS on Aug. 4. The meetings begin at 9 a.m. with the senior class and end at 10:30 a.m. with the freshmen. Impact testing in the library will immediately follow the player meetings.
Practice begins at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, while media day will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, starting at 7 a.m. Meet the Indians will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m. before the first scrimmage will be held Friday, Aug. 19.

With the 2011 football season near the information for season tickets has been released. Sales to current season ticket holders will begin Aug. 23 while new season ticket sales begin Sept. 1. All ticket sales will be held at the Waxahachie Ninth Grade Academy library, a new location from previous seasons. Tickets are $32 per seat. Sales to current season ticket holders will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, Thursday, Aug. 25 and from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.
Trade Day will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 before new season tickets are released from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. Tickets not picked up by 4 p.m. from current season ticket holders will be released Aug. 27.

NFL fitness training
Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader trainer Jay Johnson is bringing his fitness program, and some Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, to Waxahachie this month to benefit the Cherokee Charmers.
Jay’s Boot Camp, a four-week fitness program, will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday from July 25 through Aug. 17 at the Howard Junior High School at 265 Broadhead Road.
Sponsored by the Cherokee Charmer Booster Club and Taco Cabana Catering, Jay’s Boot Camp is offering a significant discount. The program, typically $225, will be $120 for a four-week workout.

Benefit adult softball tourney
A benefit adult co-ed softball tournament will be held in honor of Matthew Glasco starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.
Glasco is a student at Waxahachie Faith Family Academy and is entering his second battle with cancer.
