David Milson Legacy

Run in Cedar Hill

A memorial fundraiser run honoring the late David Milson will be held on March 26 at Cedar Hill High School to raise money for Rexanna’s Foundation in the fight against lung cancer. There will be a kids 1K run at 8:15 a.m. followed by the 5K run at 9 a.m.

Milson, the longtime head boys basketball coach at Cedar Hill, passed away earlier this year from the disease. A health fair at the high school will follow the races from 8:30-noon.

Early registration will run through March 11 with a cost of $25. Late registration will cost $30. Students can run in the 5K for $15 and the kids 1K run is $10 with no deadline.

To register online or for more information, go to www.runforapurpose.com. Brochures on the run are available at the MISD athletic office located near the high school arena.

MHS summer basketball training and workouts

Offseason basketball programs for both the girls and boys teams at Midlothian are in the process of getting ready for the summer. This program is open to all current players and any incoming freshman planning to play basketball next season.

Cost of the training will be tournament registration fees and jerseys with nearly all practices to be conducted during open gyms at the high school. Spring league tournaments won’t be identified until later in March when all state playoffs are finished. Tournaments will start before school lets out and run throughout the summer.

Along with players, organizers are looking for team coordinators and coaches to help out. The hope is to have three boy and three girl teams for work this summer.
