The varsity cheer team at Southwestern Assemblies of God University will once again host its annual Pee Wee Cheer Camp for young girls.

The popular event is open to the public for ages 5-12 on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. until noon. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The $25 cost includes a T-shirt, a snack, photo with the SAGU cheerleaders and two tickets to a SAGU football game this fall.

Cheer coach Alicia Rogers said the Pee Wee Cheer Camp will cover jumps, cheer and dance. Campers will learn a cheer to perform and will present it during a home football game this fall at the renovated Lumpkins Stadium.

To reserve a place at the camp, send an email to arogers@sagu.edu.

The camp will be held on the campus of Southwestern, at 1200 Sycamore St., west of U.S. Highway 77. The refurbished Claxton Gym will house the camp. Historic Claxton, constructed in the 1920s, is known for its safe seating area, enchanting rafters and safekeeping facilities.
