You can set your clocks around annual events.
Bears hibernate, flowers bloom, Texas heat rises to oppressive levels, and SAGU student-athletes begin their yearly odyssey back to the Lionsí Den for the fall season.
Yes, it is that time of year again; a time of early practices, a time of late night film sessions, a time for sore muscles, and a time for intense preparation.
All of these sacrifices are because the eternal light of optimism brightens even the earliest pre-dawn workouts.
By early next week all five of the SAGU fall teams will have reported to campus to prepare for their fall season.
On Wednesday womenís soccer, volleyball and football will arrive on campus.
Menís soccer will enter the fray on Sunday. Finally, the spirit of SAGU, the Lion cheerleaders, will finish the summer odyssey by arriving on Tuesday, Aug. 21.
On Aug. 27, both soccer teams will open their fall season with a 1 p.m. home doubleheader against Dallas Christian College.
Volleyball will open its season on Aug. 30 at Wayland Baptist and proceed to play five games in the Wayland Baptist opening weekend tournament.
The Lady Lionsí first home game will be on Sept.7 against conference foe UT-Brownsville.
Football will open its season Sept. 1 at Austin College in Sherman and open its home schedule on Sept. 8 against Sul Ross University.
As the fall season starts to gear up, it brings with it the promise of a new season and new opportunities.
