The SAGU Lions were looking to do their best impression of Texas weather on Tuesday evening in the Full Life Center.
A three game losing front had blown across the plains of the Lions Den and SAGU was looking for the winds of change to blow against Oklahoma Wesleyan.
After falling behind early in the first half, Matt Daniels hit a three pointer three minutes into the game to take a 5-4 lead. Then the Okalahoma Wesleyan Eagles (8-1) spread their wings and went on a 12-0 run to take a 16-5 lead with 13:27 remaining.
The Eagles were able to hold a 46-28 score at halftime.
As the second half opened, the Lions came out with some determination and after the first four minutes, SAGU had trimmed the Eagles lead to eleven points, 51-40. One minute later, on a Tim Geil lay-up the Lions moved with in ten points and trailed 52-42.
Matt Daniels made two free throws to move SAGU within ten points, 79-69.
SAGU was not done yet. A three pointer by Gerren Hamilton followed by a three pointer from Jason Rice with :46 seconds left, moved SAGU with in seven points, 82-75.
