According the blueprints that reside on the desk of head baseball coach Greg Hayes, SAGU is expecting over 30 kids for their fall baseball schedule.
But what about at the Christmas break? Erik Harmon and Bentley Beck may have some answers.
On Thursday, the Lions signed two area standouts that left a legacy in Maypearl.
Harmon (pictured right) in 2005 was an all-district third baseman and earned honorable mention all-state honors.
In 2006, Erik won the Utility Player of the Year award and was named Pitcher of the Year.
Beck, a pitcher, in 2005 earned the Fighting Heard Award for his hard working style of play.
In 2006, Bentley played amateur baseball for the D/FW Diamondbacks.
Both student-athletes will transfer in for the spring semester from Navarro College, which is where the athletes attend college right now.
“Both of these guys are kids that we have had our eye on since they graduated,” Hayes said. “We are glad they will come here and play baseball for us in spring.
The fall season runs for eight weeks and being for SAGU the first week of classes.
SAGU has now signed 16 players for the upcoming year.
