Three different players threw touchdown passes and Milford forced three turnovers in the Bulldogs’ 30-14 victory in their season opener against May.

Milford scored twice in the first quarter to take an early 14-0 lead, but saw its advantage cut to eight at halftime when May scored twice to make the game 22-14.

But a fourth quarter touchdown sealed the game for the Bulldogs.

Junior wide receiver and cornerback Jairus Russell threw for 47 yards and a touchdown, ran for 43 yards, caught two passes for 51 yards and a touchdown and intercepted a pass as he led the Bulldogs to the victory.

Senior quarterback and safety Adonas Hightower completed six passes for 81 yards and two scores on offense, while recording 15 tackles and recovering two fumbles on defense.

Sophomore running back and cornerback Jacobe Essary led the team in tackles with 16 and rushing yards with 113. He also gained 53 yards through the air on two catches, one of them for a touchdown.

Eric Evans and Germaine Armstrong each added receiving touchdowns. Armstrong had three catches for 37 yards and 15 tackles while Evans had the one catch for 22 yards and had 14 tackles.

This week the Bulldogs will play at Abbott.
