ALVARADO - The Waxahachie Runnin’ Indian junior varsity scored 21 points in the opening quarter en rout to a convincing 77-23 win over the Alvarado Indian junior varsity.
It was the last game before district begins and Coach Joe Wakeland wanted to see that his team was ready to enter the district foray.
“We pushed the ball and forced the pace as much as we could,” Coach Wakeland stated. “Our defensive pressure gave them tourble. Dex (Dexter Chandler) had an amazing fourth quarter and Ben Walton had a big game on the boards to help him score 14.”
Chandler did have an amazing fourth quarter, as he hit 20 of his game high 22 points in that frame.
Walton followed with 14, while Venique Benton added nine. Justin Volentine rattled the nets for six as did L.A. Rose. B.K. Harris, Brandon Williams, James Martinez and Brandon Everett all had four points each.
“All in all it was a good game and we should be ready for district play,” Wakeland said.
