State Farm Insurance has named Red Oak High School student, Dyann Lopez, a 2006-2007 State Farm Scholar Athlete. Dyann received this recognition due to her extraordinary success achieved in the classroom as well as on the playing field.

Dyann graduated from Red Oak High School with honors with a 7.9 GPA. She was an active member of the tennis team as well as the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Venture Crew. Dyann exhibits strong leadership skills and serves as a positive role model for youth in her community.

State Farm Insurance has supported the scholar-athlete program for five academic school years, and awarded 100 scholarships this year to deserving student athletes in Texas.

"State Farm is committed to education and is pleased to award scholarships to such a talented group of students. Dyann has chosen a path of great success and leadership. We want to recognize these outstanding efforts and support her goals," stated Danny Humphreys, State Farm Agent.

To be selected as the State Farm Scholar-Athlete of the week, a student must exhibit leadership and good citizenship in both academics and athletics. The individual should actively participate in academic competitions, as well as sporting practices, games and competitions on a daily basis. Most importantly, a scholar-athlete is an individual whose academic progress and success serves as a priority.

Over the last five years, State Farm Insurance has awarded 175 scholarships, making the State Farm Scholar-Athlete program the largest state wide athletic scholarship program.
