RED OAK — The Red Oak boys’ and girls’ soccer teams returned from tournament competition during the weekend to play Tuesday. The result was a 2-1 loss for the Hawks against Kaufman at Hawk Stadium; the Lady Hawks traveled to Mesquite and lost to Poteet, 5-1.
The Hawks fell to 2-3 on the year.
“It's hard to judge how good we are or we can be because it’s still early in the season,” Red Oak coach Trent Kutch said. “It’s going to be a totally different game now than what we will be playing toward the end of the season in the race for a possible playoff spot.”
The Lady Hawks are 2-4-1 with the loss. It was the first time this season that the girls’ team had competed against an opponent away from a tournament. The Lady Hawks played in the Arlington and Aledo tournaments.
They had defeated teams from Amarillo Tascosa and Granbury, which amounted to one win in each tournament.
Samantha Gonzales was the lone player to score for the Lady hawks against Poteet.
