2007 USSSA Class A World Series 13U champions - The Ovilla Mustangs captured the World Championships held in Granbury, Texas, on June 18-22. Members of the team are Tyler Prasifka, Ridge Milke, Bryce Graves, Jacob Garcia, Jordan Proefrock, Phillip Russell, Michael Amlong, Jacob Lindsey, Justin Wickliffe, Jarrod Pisors, Blake Brancato and Jason Bethel. Coaches are Carl Proefrock, Russell Lindsey, Roger Garcia and Robert Milke. The Ovilla Mustangs made history by capturing the USSSA Class A 13U World Series title. The Mustangs ended regular season play at 8-3, then continued into post season play. The team took the North Zone Championship and followed up as state champions two weeks later to qualify for the World Series. The Mustangs took the top seed into the series as the No. 1 team in the nation out of the 53 teams headed to Granbury.
The national seedings held true as the Mustangs were pitted against the No. 2 seed Duncanville Impact Orioles in the championship series.
The Mustangs survived game one in the best of three format with a 9-7 win. Duncanville battled back to take game two by a heart-wrenching 5-4 score. Ovilla flexed its offensive muscles in the final contest taking a 9-1 win to claim the World Series bragging rights. “The big show was unbelievable,” Mustang head coach Robert Milke said. “It was just our turn, our year,” coach Russell Lindsey added. “Every player on the team visibly put forth an effort we had not seen before and we are proud of every one of them,” coach Carl Proefrock said.
