Lauren Johnson allowed just one run in three innings pitched as the Waxahachie Lady Indians junior varsity team opened the Lady Indian Junior Varisty Tournament with a 15-1 win against Arlington Ninth.
In the first pool play game, Waxahachie scored five runs in each of the first three innings before Arlington scratched across one run in the third.
Lady Indians’ coach Joe Wakeland said Johnson was outstanding on the mound and at the plate.
Johnson had three of the Lady Indians’ nine hits in the game and struck out three batters.
Bree Lawrence and Caitlyn Woodhouse each had two hits in the game while Calli Thompson and Rebecca Peevehouse had one hit each.
WHS plays today at 2:30 against Red Oak in pool play before opening bracket play with Naaman Forest at 6 p.m.
