MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian Lady Panthers opened district play against Arlington Seguin and came away with a 5-2 win.
Lindsay Fallon was the winning pitcher allowing seven hits and a both runs en route to the complete game performance.
The Lady Panthers hit the ball very well but most were right at the Seguin defense. Midlothian did lace six hits, all singles, in the game.
Midlothian led 3-0 going into the top of the fourth inning when Seguin finally managed to plate a run.
Midlothian responded with two runs in the home half to cruise to the victory.
“It was cold and windy and everything considered it was great to get the win,” Midlothian Coach Jennifer McFalls stated.
“Lindsay (Fallon) did a great job considering the conditions,” McFalls added.
“I am pleased with the way we hit the ball. Coming off a tough tournament, we were able to hit the ball extremely hard. We were very aggressive with the bat. We only had six hits because a lot of balls were hit hard but right at the defense. I am proud of our aggressiveness at the plate. We only had one batter called out on strikes.
“Overall it was good to win. We had the weather and a bunch of sick kids out there. They performed very well,” McFalls said.
Seguin had seven hits and committed three errors in the game.
Midlothian will be in the McKinney Tourney this week and resume district play March 4 against Red Oak.
