DUBLIN The Maypearl Panthers (2-0) downed Dublin 13-0 for their second consecutive run-rule win to start district play. After defeating Hico 10-0 in the opener, the Panthers have not given up a run to a District 11-2A opponent.

Wes Arrington hurled the no-hit shutout that was shortened to five innings because of the 10 run differential. Facing only 17 batters, Arrington issued two walks and struck out seven.

Playing errorless defense for the entire game, Maypearl bats were hot. The Panthers rapped out seven singles and two doubles for eight runs in the first inning alone.

Maypearl tacked on another run in the third inning when Matt Antwine hit a double and later scored.

The Panther hitting barrage continued in the top of the fifth. Brandon Sword, Matt Antwine, Andy Pipes, Dan Antwine and Garrett Mathers all had hits and Sword, the Antwine brothers and Pipes all crossed the plate to give the Panthers the 13-0 rout.

Tonight the Panthers will play host to Grandview.
