The Utah Jazz suffered a 118-99 loss just hours after trading team captain and All-Star point guard Deron Williams to New Jersey Wednesday night.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points, leading the Dallas Mavericks to their 14th in their last 15 games and eight straight in Dallas.
Seven players scored in double-figures, proving that the teamís depth continues to grow. This is the 14th straight game where at least five players have scored 10 or more points. Peja Stojakovic scored 18, Shawn Marion had 16, Jason Terry and J.J. Barea both had 13, Brendan Haywood scored 12 and Rodrigue Beaubois contributed 10 points.
The short-handed Jazz couldnít keep up with the Mavericks. They had already lost Williams, who averages 21.3 points per game, but they also didnít have the two Nets players acquired in the deal.
The Mavericks shot 57.9 percent, extending their 50 percent or more shooting record to the fifth straight game. During this time Dallas has been averaging 114.4 points and shooting 4.9 percent from the field. The Mavericks were also 10-for-20 from behind the arc against the Jazz.
