Andrew Bynum helped the Lakers survive a Kobe Bryant ankle injury and pulled through with a 96-91 win in Dallas last Saturday.

Bryant rolled his left ankle coming off a Shawn Marion block in the third quarter. He left to the locker room before returning again in the fourth quarter.

Both Shawn Marion and Dirk Nowitzki finished with 25 points, but it wasnít enough to hold off the Lakers and Bynumís 22 points and 15 rebounds. The Lakers also scored 20 of their 22 first quarter points in the paint and provided proof that the Mavericks may indeed be soft when they finished the game with a 56-38 advantage in the paint.

ďItís a tough loss. Obviously itís a game that had meaning. Iím disappointed with the outcome but not the effort,Ē said Coach Rick Carlisle.

The Mavericks snapped a streak of 35 consecutive game with at least six 3-pointers, shooting only 4-for-16 from behind the arc.

Despite the loss, it was still a good night for Mavericks fans. A record crowd of 20,619 fans broke the previous record of 20,604 at the American Airlines Center. It was the 392nd straight sellout.

Dallas vs. Portland

Dirk Nowitzki missed a pivotal 3-pointer with seconds to go as the Mavericks suffered a 104-101 loss to the Portland Trailblazers Tuesday night.

LeMarcus Aldridge scored 30 points and eight rebounds to hand the Mavericks a 104-101 loss Tuesday night. Brandon Roy contributed 21 points as Portland moved into a tie for sixth place in the Western Conference.

Dirk Nowitzki finished the game with 28 points and 11 rebounds. The Mavericks shot 59.7 percent from the field as a team, but still lost.

Portland had a 96-94 lead when Marcus Cambry tipped in Royís missed layup. Rudy Fernandez followed with a steal and a pass to Aldridge that ended in a dunk and a 100-94 lead.

The Mavericks suffered from sticky fingers as Portland was able to score 22 points off of 15 Dallas turnovers and attempting 18 more shots than Dallas.

vs. Golden State

The Mavericks came back from an early 19-7 deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors 112-106 Wednesday night.

Rick Carlisle put new Maverick Corey Brewer in the starting lineup in place of Shawn Marion, a move the coach would regret. Brewer bombed and Carlisle used a quick timeout to get Jason Terry on the floor instead.

Nowitzki finished with 34 points and 13 rebounds. Rodrigue Beaubois had a season-high 18 points, four assists and four steals while playing 37 minutes.

vs. San Antonio Spurs

The Dallas Mavericks couldnít handle in-state rival Spurs and fell to a heartbreaking 97-91 loss Friday night in Dallas.

Tony Parker scored 33 points, Manu Ginobili added 25 and Tim Duncan had 22 as the Spurs bounced back from a blowout loss against the Heat.

It was a back-and-forth game late in the second and into the third quarter as the Spur let an 18-point advantage turn into a tie. In the third, the Spurs went over six minutes without scoring, allowing the Mavericks to come within two. One last rally led by Tony Parker finished off a Spurs win.

Nowitzki scored 23 points, but San Antonioís defense didnít allow for much help from other starters or the Dallas bench. Shawn Marion added 13 points.
