Color guard support
The Red Oak color guard will serve at the Sonic Drive-In located at 201 E. Ovilla Road in Red Oak on Saturday, Aug. 8. The color guard will be on hand from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Knife cutting competition

Braves 10U team seeking players
Braves baseball 10U is an established select team looking for competitive baseball players to fill the roster for the 2009 tournament season. The Braves are dedicated to teaching solid fundamentals and creating a positive team atmosphere. Talented, hard working players can tryout at Optimist Park in Waxahachie Tuesday, Aug. 11. 11U select tryouts
The 11U Waxahachie Cardinals are looking for pitchers and positional players for the fall season and beyond. Tryouts are from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Optimist Curry field. For eligibility, players must be 11 years or younger old prior to April 30, 2010.
WHS season tickets
In preparation of the upcoming Waxahachie High School football season, season tickets go on sale to current season ticket holders from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the athletic multi-purpose dressing facility near the WHS tennis courts. Sales to current season ticket holders will also be held Aug. 13 and Aug. 15. The Aug. 13 sales will be held from 5-8 p.m. while the Aug. 15 sales will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Season ticket holders will be allowed to trade tickets on trade day held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Aug. 22. The mad rush for new season ticket sales will be held 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the multi-purpose facility. Baseball tryout and hitting camp
Coast to Coast baseball invites local players, ages 10-18, to participate in one if its tryout events. Monday, Aug. 10 at the University of Dallas at Irving tryouts and a hitting camp will be held. Camp starts at 10 a.m. At the tryout staff will evaluate player skills in four areas and players accepted will represent the United States in competition in Puerto Rico or work with top college coaches and pro scouts at a MLB spring training complex. The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau is currently accepting Super Bowl XLV volunteer information for those interested in volunteer opportunities with the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, in preparation for Super Bowl XLV, which will be played in the Dallas Cowboys new $1.1 billion stadium in 2011.
