Indians tail-gate party

The Waxahachie Quarterback Club, in support of the Waxahachie Indians football team, will be holding the HEB Green and White BBQ tail-gate party May 30 in the parking lot of Lumpkins Stadium. The drive through and carry out event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. Lunch plates are $6 each and includes sliced BBQ, beans, potato salad, pickles and bread. On May 29 special orders can be made and will be delivered to schools, businesses or homes. Orders have to be made by May 27 for the May 29 delivery. To call in an order, call 972937-9621.

Free tennis camp

A free six-week tennis camp is being held by Waxahachie High School on Wednesdays through June 10. WISD students can bring their report card or student ID to the camp to verify enrollment. Students not enrolled in WISD will have to pay $5 per session. The classes will be split into two separate groups. The first class will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for beginners (little tennis experience, no tennis knowledge) ages 6-14. The second class will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for intermediates (tennis knowledge and playing experience) ages 10-14. More information is available online at

Youth football sign ups

Waxahachie Pee-Wee Football sign-ups now through May 30. Call Coach Vance at 214-714-1788 for sign up information. Saturday, May 30 signups will be held at Penn Park from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Volleyball camp

The annual Waxahachie Lady Indians volleyball camp will be held on June 8-11. Camp registration forms and more information can be found online at

Soccer camp

Waxahachie High School will hold a soccer camp June 22-25 for boys and girls. Camp one will be from 9-11:30 a.m. for grade 2-6. Camp two will be from 4:30-7 p.m. for grade 7-9. Cost is $60. Registration forms can be found online at For more information call 214-577-9254.

Football camp

Waxahachie will be conducting football camps for kids who will be entering the seventh and eighth grades. A separate camp will also take place for incoming freshmen students. Both camps will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. June 15-18. Forms and more information online at

SAGU baseball camp

SAGU will hold a baseball camp June 23-25. The camp will feature SAGU baseball players and coaches and will focus on each phase of the game. The cost will be $65 for all three days or $25 per day (includes camp T-shirt). Age range for the camp 8-year-olds to youth entering the eighth-grade. It will be held at the SAGU baseball practice field located behind the Full Life Center on the SAGU campus. SAGU volleyball camp

SAGU will host a volleyball camp June 29-July 2 for High School students. On July 27-30 the elementary (4th- 6th grade) and junior high players will their playing time at camp. The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau is currently accepting Super Bowl XLV volunteer information for those interested in volunteer opportunities with the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, in preparation for Super Bowl XLV, which will be played in the Dallas Cowboys new $1.1 billion stadium in 2011.Thousands of volunteer opportunities will be available, with a variety of skills needed.  Those interested can go to
