BURLESON — After blasting Brock 19-6 in Game 1 on Thursday, Maypearl needed a little extra time Friday as they beat Brock 4-3 in nine innings at Burleson.

The Lady Panthers put the first run on the board in the first inning as Emily Taylor advanced two runners, scoring one, with her deep pop fly to the Brock second baseman.

Brock scored the next two runs in the third and fourth innings, as the Lady Eagles took a 2-1 lead.

In the fifth inning, the Lady Panthers were able to tie the game and then took the lead in the next inning due to a one run double by Ryan Jones that allowed Taylor to score from second base.

Brock was not going to go away silently, however, as Cheyenne Styles hit a triple with two outs in the seventh inning. As she put herself into scoring position, an error allowed Styles to score the tying run.

In the ninth inning, Taylor and Stormi Walters both singled to bring up Jones. Jones hit a single past second base to score the game winning run.

“We have come out of tight situations before,” Maypearl head coach Stacy White said. “We remained focused and were able to get the job done.”

“We showed a lot of heart tonight,” White said. “It was heart that won the game for us.”
