SAGUís womens soccer team was not able to capture its first program victory during the teamís inaugural season last year.
Thus the anticipation and angst of that first win lingered all spring and summer.
The wait ended on Monday afternoon in the Lady Lions first game of the 2007 season as SAGU defeated Dallas Christian 5-1 at the SAGU Soccer Field.
The Lady Lions not only earned their first win, but they earned it in convincing fashion as Allison Malcolm scored four goals during the contest.
It was not Malcolm that would start the scoring, however she would assist Wendy Byh for the first goal of the season and 1-0 lead.
Malcolm would score the second goal before Dallas Christian would score its first goal of the game, trimming SAGUís lead to 2-1 by halftime.
In the second half, it was all Lady Lions.
Not one minute into the second half, Malcolm scored her second goal on an assist from Nikki Simpson.
Malcolm would score her third and fourth goals at seven minutes and 37 minutes in the second half, wrapping up the Lady Lions scoring for the 5-1 rout.
The only other SAGU four-goal performance came in October 2004 when Braden Pollard scored four goals against Dallas Christian in a men's game.
The Lady Lions will play their second of three games in their opening week on Thursday afternoon in Cedar Hill against Sterling College.
The anticipation for the second win of the season has already begun.
