The Waxahachie JV volleyball team played in the Colleyville Heritage Tournament last weekend and came home with the second place trophy in the Gold Division.

The Lady Indians started out in pool play splitting with Creekview 13-15, 15-11 then defeating Trinity Christian two games 15-7, 15-8 before they were defeated by Hebron 15-11, 15-12.

“They played really hard and competed well to earn second place in their pool,” head junior varsity coach Bobbie Knowles said.

Getting second in the pool sent the Lady Indians to bracket play against Plano West and after a hard fight went down in two, but not without giving it all they had for a 25-19 and 25-20 loss.

This sent them into the Gold division where they defeated Colleyville Heritage in three 20-25, 28-26, 15-9.

They played the Gold game against Poteet and fought hard before losing the match 25-19, 25-23.

“The girls did an outstanding job all day playing top teams in the area,” Knowles said.

Next up for the JV is the Waxahachie Tournament this Thursday and Saturday at Solis Gymnasium.
