Facing Forney in a Saturday twin bill the Waxahachie Indian junior varsity team picked up a win in the second game while tying the Rabbits in the opening game.

After a 4-4 tie in the first game the Indians scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 6-6 tie in the second game to win 7-6.

Kolton Smith started game two and went four innings, giving up six runs and had three strikeouts. Austin Clark came in relief and threw three innings, giving up no runs and striking out three.

Top hitters for the game were Smith 2-for-4, John Castellanos 2-for-3 and Don King III, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, a triple and two runs scored.

Micah Lett was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Drew Morgan was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored while the Indians had 14 hits in the game.

Hayden Howell and Morgan doubled while Castellanos stole three bases.

Forney jumped on the board first with one run in the first inning before taking a 2-0 lead after three. Waxahachie tied the game at two in the third before Forney added four in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead after Waxahachie added three in the bottom half of the inning.

Clark pitched the fifth through the seventh and kept Forney off the board while the offense scored a run in the sixth to tie and a run in the seventh to win.

Morgan and Lett singled leading off the seventh before Smith stepped up with runners at second and third. He singled in the winning run as Morgan scored to end the game.

Waxahachie out hit Forney 12-11 in the first game but Forney scored a run in the top of the sixth to force the tie at four.

Evan Jones started on the mound and threw 3 2/3 innings for Waxahachie, striking out five and giving up two runs. Jamie Ortiz came in relief and finished the game with 3 1/3 innings and three strikeouts.

Waxahachie took a 4-1 lead through two before Forney scored two in the fourth and one in the sixth to tie.

Top hitters for Waxahachie were Lett 2-for-4 with a double and Blake Gonzales, who also went 2-for-4 with a double. Morgan was 3-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.

Waxahachie is 13-1-1 on the season with a 3-0-1 record in district. The Indians are scheduled to play tonight at 6 in Corsicana. Including tonight, there are 10 scheduled games left for the JV.
