The Waxahachie Indian JV football green team took on the Red Oak Hawks Sept. 22 and came away victorious 28-15.†
The Indians scored a touchdown on their opening possession on a 51-yard run by Ledarron Crawford.
Jake Villarreal found Elijah Brown in the back of the end zone to give the Tribe an early 8-0 lead.
On the next drive, the Tribe found the end zone again, this time on an 8-yard run around the right end by Paul Debase.
The Indians were unsuccessful on a two-point conversion pass attempt.
The Indians faked a punt on their next possession to keep the drive going.
Debase took an option pitch from Villarreal around the right end from 18 yards out and score his second touchdown of the game.†
Villarreal added on the extra point giving the Indians a 21-0 lead.
The Tribe had one more opportunity before the half and took advantage of it.
Villarreal found an open Brown in the end zone.
Villarreal tacked on the extra point, giving the Indians a 28-0 halftime lead.
Three big interceptions in the first half gave the Indians a short field, two in the first quarter.
One of the interceptions in the first quartera was by Payton Stewart.

The final interception came in the second quarter by Brown.
The defense played a solid game all night and held Red Oak to 15 points.†
