The No. 7 Italy Gladiators (25-3,10-0) chalked up a perfect year in district play and are headed to the playoffs after they defeated the Waxahachie Advantage Eagles Tuesday night 104-40. Their perfect district record has awarded them a first round playoff bye and a bi-district championship.

Advantage came out strong and took an early 5-0 lead, but the Gladiators were too strong on both sides of the ball for the lead to last. Three quick jumpers from John Isaac put Italy back on top and they kept the lead until the final buzzer sounded.

Isaac and Ryan Ashcraft dropped in eight points each in the first period to give Italy a comfortable 34-7 lead. Larry Mayberry scored all 12 of his points in the second to increase the Gladiator lead. The defense held advantage to 10 points so Italy finished the first half on top 65-17.

In the second half, Italy outscored Advantage 39-23 to seal the win. DeAndre Sephus was a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line and led the Gladiators with 13 points. Others in double digits were Larry Mayberry with 12, Ryan Ashcraft with 11, and John Isaac and Aaron Thomas with 10 each.
