Although the state-level softball program has been

successful for many years at Waxahachie High School, their

equipment has never truly been up to par in comparison to

surrounding sports programs.

However, this year, Waxahachie softball is receiving

a makeover that has been long overdue.

During this past summer, improved, covered batting

cages were constructed alongside refurbished bleachers to provide

more space and comfort for fans.

Two dugouts were also erected and painted green and

white in honor of “Hachie Pride.”

The upgrades don’t stop there. Right now, the field’s

irrigation system and the concession building are being revamped to

become more favorable to both players and onlookers alike.

These advances will not only reflect more pride in

Waxahachie sports programs, but can also be a great motivating

factor for players.

Head coach Steve Howell said he’s excited for the

season.

“We’re going to have a tough district this year,”

Howell said.

Howell agreed that the new batting cages are the

first step to playoffs.
