Rescheduling numerous times threw the Red Oak baseball team a loop before play even started in the Waco ISD Invitational over the weekend.

After being told the school would play host to games over the weekend, the games were moved back to Waco, causing many headaches before the games even started.

Once play began, the Hawks were handed losses by Killeen Harker Height (6-1) and Rockwall Heath (7-1) on Friday and Rockwall (6-0) on Saturday.

In Friday’s game against Harker Heights, Garrett Anthony was charged with the loss as the Hawks allowed six runs on just four hits. But a three-hit outing from the offense wasn’t enough to get a rally going.

In the nightcap, it was more of the same as Brent Fletcher was charged with the loss as Heath scored seven runs on six hits. Red Oak again had one run on three base knocks.

Senior pitcher Travis Wallis was handed his first loss of the season as Rockwall notched six runs on seven hits while allowing Red Oak only two base hits.

Zach Gonzalez and Garret Thomas recorded those hits with a double and triple respectively.
