Despite the 155-mile trek from Waxahachie to College Station, the home of Texas A&M University, the Indians had a large crowd that nearly outnumbered Hendricksonís 2-to-1 even though Hendrickson is 50 miles closer to College Station.

Waxahachie is expected to be the visiting team on Saturday after being the home team on Thursday with the setting sun blinding the players in the dugout.

Sherman defeated Pine Tree 7-5 in a late rally. Pine Tree led 5-2 going into the bottom of the fifth before Sherman rallied to make it a 5-4 game. In the sixth Sherman took the lead for good with three runs to advance to the next round.

Hendrickson was the District 16-4A champion with a perfect 12-0 record. Waxahachie was fourth in District 15-4A.

Saturdayís game, or games, will be carried live in Waxahachie on KBEC 1390 with Ken Roberts and Mike Turner.

Cameron Phillips recorded nine outs, seven on strikeouts, in his three innings on the mound while throwing 68 pitches. The senior was the teamís closer during district play. He allowed five hits and two walks while not allowing an earned run. He moved from pitcher to right field for three innings before playing left field in the seventh. He had a perfect throw to the cutoff man in the top of the seventh that was turned into an out at the plate.

Waxahachie senior catcher Chase Rudolph did not allow a passed ball the entire game, which proved crucial as there is close to 20-feet between home plate and the backstop at Tiger Field. A passed ball would have easily allowed a runner to advance at least one base.

In the top of the fourth inning Kyle McLeroy showed his flexibility as the senior did the splits at first base while reaching for a throw from short stop. He made the out. It was his first inning at first base after playing the first three innings in right field.

Waxahachie went with a new lineup for the game as Andrew Smith was the designated hitter for left fielder Trent Armstrong. The starting lineup was as follows: CF-Michael Bosch, 2B-Seth Sims, RF-McLeroy, P-Phillips, SS-David Martinelli, DH-Smith, C-Rudolph, 3B-Cody Brown, 1B-Ryan Cawthon. Jeremy Escobar and David Villarreal both pinch-hit in the game while Blake Gonzales pinch-ran for McLeroy in the fifth and scored a run.
