After clobbering Ennis 19-3 to open the Finis Turner Freshman Tournament at Richards Park last Thursday the Waxahachie freshman Indians defeated Lake Dallas 10-0 Friday to advance to Saturday’s championship game.

In the championship game the Indians faced familiar foe Red Oak and continued to score a lot of runs in a 12-5 victory to claim the tournament title.

Evan Jones picked up the win on the mound for the Indians, pitching five innings while striking out five. Colton Lott pitched a scoreless inning and struck out one before Austin Stracener pitched the final inning and allowed one run.

Waxahachie scored one run in the first and second innings before adding two in the third and five in the fifth to pull away from the Hawks as Casey Williams finished the day 2-for-2 with a three-run double.

Jones was 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run double while Dalton Bradbury was 1-for-3 with a run scoring double. Jake Loose was successful on a safety squeeze bunt to score a run.

In the win against Lake Dallas the Indians run-ruled the Falcons in five innings as Williams pitched a no-hitter, striking out five and walking three.

Waxahachie scored four in the first, four in the second and two in the third to pull away for the win.

Braden Henry was 1-for-2 with two runs scored while Conner Maines had two sacrifice bunts, walked and scored a run.

Sammy Ernst was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Loose was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Dalton Bradbury was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and Patrick Lawrence drew two walks and scored one run.

Tyler Johnson was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run batted in while Logan Dorsett was 1-for-3.

In three games of the Waxahachie tournament the host Indians outscored their opponents 41-8.

With the tournament championship the Indians improved to 8-3 on the season and will play in district action Saturday at Mesquite ISD’s Copeland Field against Mesquite Poteet. The double header starts at noon.
