Playing in their final non-district game of the season the Waxahachie Lady Indians traveled to Kennedale Friday and lost 4-1.

Brooke Goad pitched the first four innings for Waxahachie and allowed two unearned runs and eight hits while Lauren Johnson finished the game allowing two hits and two unearned runs in two innings of work.

Waxahachie (6-9, 1-0) committed five errors in the game while being out-hit 10-4.

Freshman leadoff hitter Ariel Ortiz continues to find ways to get on base as she was 2-for-3 while Summer Davila and Johnson picked up the other Waxahachie hits.

In sub-varsity action the JV Lady Indians nipped Kennedale 6-5 as Jaymie Kendrick picked up the win.

Kendrick pitched two innings and allowed no runs while Kealey Gardner allowed five runs in two innings of work. Both pitchers combined to hold Kennedale to two hits.

Taylor Molengraaf singled and drove in two for Waxahachie while Taylor Engel doubled as the Lady Indians had just two hits in the game.

Both teams will be back in action this week starting Tuesday in Red Oak.

The JV Lady Indians will play at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Red Oak before the varsity team tries to go 2-0 in district with a 7 p.m first pitch against the Lady Hawks.
