On the rural roads around Bardwell, father and son running duo Michael and Sam Law are a familiar sight.
Although they prefer to call it “the Greater Bardwell Area.”
A keen sense of humor isn’t all the Laws share.
“We run every morning, about three miles,” said Sam, a high school freshman in Red Oak. “I like getting to talk to him, and seeing if I can beat him. Not too many mornings do I beat him.”
The elder law said the family that runs together stays together.
“We have some interesting conversations at 6 in the morning,” he said.
Once a former runner, Michael Law said his son’s interest in hitting the road prompted a return to his track shoes.
“I wanted to get in shape – and he pulled me out of retirement,” he said.
Saturday’s PolkaFest Run gave them a sort of early Father’s Day present: both father and son took second place.
“I think we should call ourselves The Split Seconds,” Michael quipped.
