The Palmer Lady Bulldogs (14-5, 1-0) earned a big win Friday night over their cross-county rival the Maypearl Lady Panthers.
The up-tempo game started very close with the score 9-6 midway through the first quarter.
Palmer pulled out in front with six points off the bench from Jami Land to bring the score to 17-8.
The second quarter was all Lady Bulldogs with Palmer outscoring Maypearl 13-1.
Samantha McDonald racked up 8 points with a 3-pointer and several free throws.
After scoring just nine points in the first half, Maypearl came out strong from the intermission, with Holmes leading their offensive charge scoring 10 of her 24 points in the third period. Maypearl outscored Palmer 24-18 to close the gap to 50-33.
The Lady Panthers played a strong full court man defense throughout the second half, but it wasn’t enough. The Lady Bulldog defense led by Olivia Robinson and Kaylin Valdez stepped up during the fourth quarter to defeat the Lady Panthers with a final score of 65-47.
Palmer will play Tuesday night in Scurry-Rosser.
