For everyone that thought Ennis was as good as its 48-0 win over University last week and Waxahachie was as bad as its 35-13 loss to Highland Park … I give you the second week of the season.

After last week, there were only two schools in District 15-4A without a win.

Those schools now have wins.

Three other schools that either won blowouts last week or upset 5A teams now have losses.

Of the seven teams in 15-4A, five are 1-1. The other two are undefeated.

If last year and the the first two weeks of this season are any indication, the race for the three playoff spots should be an exciting one to watch.

There is no clear-cut team that is going to walk away with the district title. No one went through unscathed last year and only one team failed to win at least two district games.

On Friday, Waxahachie and Midlothian both proved they have the defenses to make a run at the postseason.

As far as Seguin, Red Oak and Ennis, each took a heavy loss with the Lions’ 18-point loss to No. 2 Waco being the closest of the three games.

With that being said, each team has already sniffed success and knows it has the capability of winning games.

Corsicana and Lancaster have been impressive in their wins, but both have also shown weaknesses at times.

Who knows what’s going to happen over the next nine weeks.

No one really knows how things will shape up, but it will sure be one heck of a race to watch.
