An 11U select baseball team is seeking competitive,  driven players. The team offers a private field and workout facility  and will be playing in a select league as well as tournaments. The team finished 7th nationally last year.

An 11U select baseball team out of Ellis County is looking to fill some roster spots for the 2008 spring season.

Youth baseball registration begins

Online registration is underway for the 2008 Waxahachie Youth Baseball league season. The league provides recreational baseball programs for youth age 5-18 in six age-based divisions.

Parents may register their children online at www.wybonline.org, or attend one of two in person registration events scheduled from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 9 and again on Feb. 16 at the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce on YMCA Drive.

The season will begin around April 1 with games continuing through the end of May.

Parents and players are also reminded WYB will again be hosting a senior division for students age 14-18, providing recreational baseball for high school students.

“Kick Out Cancer” Open Karate Tourney

The Waxahachie YMCA Karate Team in association with the American Cancer Society present the “Kick Out Cancer” Open Karate Tournament at the Waxahachie Civic Center on Saturday March 8, beginning at 9 a.m.

All proceeds raised will be used to benefit cancer research.

Tickets are $5 at the door or are available by phoning the Midlothian Family Medicine Clinic at (972) 723-1185 or Ray Porter at 938-1001.

Individual and corporate sponsors are needed as well. Tournament patches, t-shirts and food will be on sale during the tournament.

It is that time of year again, and the leagues will be starting just around the corner.

There are several rule changes, as well as several tournaments coming this year. All class clinics will be held in the Waxahachie Parks & Recreation office, and all outdoor clinics will be held at the Waxahachie Sports Complex. The 2008 dues are $60.00. The RBI Club is offering Waxahachie Indian jackets for the upcoming season. Featuring a cordura/taslan outer shell with a four ounce interior quileted lining. Adult sizes S-XXXL.

Sample will be availble for viewing at the Jan. 16 meetings of the RBI Club parent meetings and at the First Pitch Banquet Feb. 7.

Cost is $115 and can be quoted upon request for size XXXL.

Deadline to order is Thursday, Feb. 7. Jackets will be received no later than March 14.
