FERRIS — The Ferris Yellowjackets (3-1) defeated Carrollton Ranchview 25-15 in front of a large homecoming crowd and the re-opening of Yellowjacket Stadium.
The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, as running back Tristan Green capped a 16-play drive with a 10-yard touchdown run.
Ferris added two touchdowns in the second quarter, as full back Payden Bertrand scored on runs of one and three yards.
Leading 18-15, the Yellowjackets final touchdown came on a 42-yard run by Bertrand early in the fourth quarter.
Ferris finished the game with 336 yards of total offense, 318 on the ground.
Bertrand finished with 184 yards on 33 carries, while Green had 84 yards on 17 totes.
Jimbo Southard had two carries for 21 yards, while Chase Parrott connected with Jeremy Masterson twice for 18 yards.
Despite giving up two big plays, the Yellowjacket defense held Ranchview to 181 yards of offense, 93 on the ground and 88 in the air.
Emmanual Grady led the way for the defense, finishing with five tackles, including three sacks and two forced fumbles.
Martin Mendez had 10 tackles, a sack and forced fumble, while Gabriel Arreola collected 12 tackles.
The Yellowjackets will take to road next week to round out non-district play as they travel to Hillsboro.
The game is scheduled for 7:30 pm. at Eagle Stadium.
