The annual Big Green golf tournament was held at the Waxahachie Country Club on Monday.
Varsity boys’ teams from Waxahachie, Irving, Creekview, Arlington Seguin, Weatherford, Midlothian, Red Oak, First Baptist Academy, Rockwall, Arlington Bowie, Cleburne, Ferris and Royce City took the course on a beautiful but windy day.
Midlothian’s team of Jeff Geary, Dustin Mayer, Chris Bannister, Chad Williams and Colton Keele claimed first place with a score of 325.
Geary claimed first place as an individual with a score of 76. Mayer was fifth for the Panthers.
Four Indians competed in the tournament for Waxahachie.
Chris Hummer finished in the top-five with a score of 78. Jack Ansell shot 83 while Cody Martin shot 88. Freshman BJ Ernst also competed in the meet for Waxahachie.
Waxahachie finished with a team total of 367.
Royce City earned second as a team and Weatherford was third.
Other team scores from the tournament are as follows: Red Oak 332, Bowie 377, First Baptist 368, Weatherford 331, Cleburne 377, Weatherford White 365, Royce City 329, Sequin 357, Creekview 348 and Rockwall 392.
Some of the top finishers were Justin McCormick of Red Oak (77), Colin Willard of Red Oak (78) and Kyle Sharp of First Baptist (77).
The next meet at the Waxahachie Country Club is schedule for March 9 when the freshman boys and JV girls from Waxahachie host a tournament.
Waxahachie’s varsity boys’ team will tee-off at Burleson on March 6.
