WAXAHACHIE — The junior varsity Lady Indians swept Forney High School on Tuesday night, beating the Lady Jackrabbits 2-0 at George W. Solis Gymnasium.

Waxahachie (8-1) entered the matchup with one loss after compiling a laundry list of downed opponents — including those on its championship run during the Mansfield Summit JV Tournament.

The Lady Indians' only blemish came after a 25-23 and 25-20 loss to Justin Wakeland High School.

Grace Prep Mesquite Horn and Poteet, Midway, Mansfield, Mansfield Summit, Prosper and South Grand Prairie High Schools have all fallen — in quick succession — to the Lady Indians since the season opener.

Waxahachie added another mark in the win column Tuesday, using six kills and a block from sophomore middle blocker Becca Pulfer to power past the Lady Jackrabbits. The junior varsity team also received a boost from sophomore outside hitter Marche Jefferson's four kills and junior setter and right side hitter Fayth Hunt's three aces.

After stopping a 4-1 Forney run and capping the first set 25-23 behind a pair of Pulfer kills, two unforced errors and a Lady Jackrabbit out-of-rotation penalty, Waxahachie struck early and often in the second.

Sparked by Pulfer's block and consecutive aces from Hunt and junior defensive specialist Caitlyn Volentine, Head Coach Dana Scott and the JV Lady Indians rallied from two points behind and stormed on a furious 13-2 run.

Near the end of the set and during a late Forney rebound, two pairs of consecutive kills by Jefferson and Pulfer helped seal the set 25-20 and keep Waxahachie undefeated in non-district play.

Hunt (2) and sophomore outside hitter Molly Echard (1) combined for three kills during the win and freshman middle blocker Emma Smithey added a block.

Waxahachie's JV will face Lancaster High School at 6:30 p.m. Friday during the district opener at Solis Gymnasium.
